Richard Fields - Ranching

Jackson Land & Cattle (JLC)

Richard Fields grew up in the Bronx and is a long-time resident of New York. Richard Fields didn’t learn to ride a horse until 1985, but dreamed of the life of a cowboy or farmer since childhood. After achieving success in business, Richard Fields purchased Jackson Land & Cattle, a ranch in Wyoming where he breeds American Quarter Horses. Jackson Land & Cattle is also a destination spot for western roping and cutting competitions.

The western sports of roping and cutting require cowboys riding American Quarter Horses to rope cattle and separate a calf or cow from the herd in timed events measuring speed and agility. Oftentimes, American quarter horses are required to work independently from the cowboys.

Jackson Land & Cattle Co occupies over 2,000 acres in the Spring Gulch corridor of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The ranch is operated by the fourth generation of the homesteading family and is a traditional home for western ranching heritage. Working cow horses and events related to cutting and roping were introduced to Jackson Land & Cattle several years ago.

At Jackson Land and Cattle, Richard Fields, is the proud owner of Peptobonsmal, the 1995 NCHA Futurity Champion and the 12th leading cutting horse sire. Richard Fields uses Jackson Land & Cattle to support Jackson’s ranching and quarter horse industry.
