Richard Fields is Chairman of Coastal Development, LLC, a privately owned resort development company specializing in luxury casinos, vacation destinations, and entertainment hotspots. Richard Fields founded Coastal Development LLC in the late 1990s following a career in the entertainment industry that included being part owner of the Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club. Richard Fields gained resort development experience working with Donald Trump in the expansion of Trump’s family entertainment, resort, and casino properties.
Through Coastal Development, LLC and Coastal Marina, Richard Fields developed the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida with locations in Tampa and Hollywood. In 2008, Richard Fields renewed his relationship with Donald Trump when Coastal Marina, LLC, an affiliate of Coastal Development, LLC, purchased the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Richard Fields is also the largest shareholder involved in the revitalization of Suffolk Downs, New England's only thoroughbred race track.
In 2004, Richard Fields co-developed the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Hotel. The project includes locations in Tampa and Hollywood, Florida.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is a Four-Diamond, AAA rated hotel with 500 rooms, 16 restaurants and lounges, and 40,000 square feet of meeting space. The luxury elements of the hotel include 23 retail shops, 11 nightclubs, a full service spa, and a car wash and auto detail salon. The hotel also features Hard Rock Live, a state-of-the art sound arena that is an international stage for concerts, theatre acts, comedic performances, and more.
As regards Indian gaming, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino gambling floor stretches over 2,500 feet for Vegas-style slots and games alone. The whole casino floor extends 145,000 square feet, which includes a 12,000 square foot private room used to host no limit Texas Hold ‘em, limit Texas Hold 'em, Seven Card Stud and two dollar and four dollar limit Omaha Hi Lo games. The high-limit gaming room includes access to the VIP Plum Lounge and celebrity show kitchen for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Players Club members.
In 2008, Richard Fields settled a deal with Donald Trump in which Coastal Marina would acquire Donald Trump’s property Marina Hotel in Atlantic City. Coastal Marina paid Trump Entertainment Resorts $316 million for the property.
The Trump Marina Hotel Casino is located in Atlantic City. The hotel is a 27-story hotel boasting 728 guestrooms, including 153 suites. Spanning approximately 14 acres in total, the Trump Marina Hotel offers 79,000 square feet of gambling space. The hotel’s nightlife features include a cabaret-style theatre, nightclub, three player clubs, four retail outlets, six restaurants, and a cocktail lounge. The hotel resort also offers a recreation deck with a health spa, outdoor pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and jogging track.
Richard Fields is the owner of Suffolk Downs Racing Track. Suffolk Downs first opened in 1935 and is famous for hosting the Massachusetts Handicap. The track has seen horses such as War Admiral, Seabiscuit, Whirlaway, Riva Ridge, Cigar and Skip Away.
Richard Fields became the owner of Suffolk Downs in 2007. Due to a number of financial problems over the years, Suffolk Downs had not hosted the MassCap in several years. Richard Fields visited the track in 2006 and invested his own funds into improving the facility and promoting racing in the Boston community. In 2007, Richard Fields brought back the MassCap with a purse of $500,000 from his own funds.
Richard Fields’ extended vision is to not only return Suffolk Downs to its former glory, but to expand the race track into a family-friendly resort-style gambling and entertainment destination. Richard Fields’ vision for Suffolk Downs includes upgrading the 166-acre lot to include a four star hotel, retail shops, restaurants, and a casino.
